More about the car

Purchased by my brother in law in ‘81, he passed unexpectedly in ‘86, only having gathered a few parts such as the rear, dropped tube axle and had a grill fabbed in stainless using a friend’s grill as a template. The car was pretty complete and rust/body damage free, with only the drive train missing. My sister held on it for their two children, but that just never panned out. She sold the car to me in 2012, and working with the help of friends I finally got her back on the road this spring of 2026. Sitting on the boxed, original frame, and is Walter P. steel. Built in May of ‘33 in Detroit, sold new at Oklahoma Motor Co. located in Tulsa. Powered by a warmed over ‘73 340 with dual quads, original refurbished instrument cluster, and Gearstar built 4L60 transmission, shes a blast to drive. Painted GM Black Cherry, with maroon/tan interior, which is not finished yet. My wife has never yet passed an opportunity to take a ride with me, something she passes on most of the time when I take out our ‘70 Challenger. I refer to the car as the ‘Mark Starr Coupe’ in honor of my brother in law. Having become friends with the guy Mark bought the car from, (and his brother is my neighbor) has also made the whole experience even more special for me.  See it run here:https://youtu.be/iBf7Tggvw9I

About the AHRF Hot Rod of the Month Contest

The Hot Rod of the Month Contest is a special opportunity available only to Foundation Members. Active Members have a two-week period EACH MONTH in which to enter a car they own by providing photos and a description of their car. During the following two-week period, all Members, whether they have entered a car or not, can individually vote for their favorite car.

The car with the most Member votes at the end of each month will be the AHRF Hot Rod of the Month and will be featured on the AHRF website and on social networks.

At the end of each calendar year, the Advisory Board of the Foundation will select one car, as the AHRF Hot Rod of the Year, from that year’s Hot Rod of the Month winners. The Hot Rod of the Year will be given special publicity, and the car will be maintained in an ongoing catalog of AHRF Hot Rod of the Year winners.
