More about the car
1932 Ford Roadster originally built in 1968 by Joe Hyatt in Minnesota from a body that had been imported from Hawaii. Gene Sonnen later bought the car in the early 70s, and had his friend Dave Bell (known for the Henry Hirise in StreetRodder and other Hotrod art) paint the flames in 1976. It still wears the same paint, and through the years has evolved as a car. It’s had stripes for paint, worn fenders, had new interiors, chassis etc however, through the years it still maintains the identity it had years ago. This car has been in countless magazines, road trips and is a blast to drive. As of the last few years I’ve tried bringing the car back to more so what it was in the 70s, with a new interior that takes inspiration from the original, taking off the fenders and ditching the wheels/tires for halibrands and slicks and overall improving ride height to my liking. It’s been a great car to own and drive. It shows its age in person, something pictures will never convey. But it’s perfect. Very lucky to have it!

About the AHRF Hot Rod of the Month Contest
The Hot Rod of the Month Contest is a special opportunity available only to Foundation Members. Active Members have a two-week period EACH MONTH in which to enter a car they own by providing photos and a description of their car. During the following two-week period, all Members, whether they have entered a car or not, can individually vote for their favorite car.
The car with the most Member votes at the end of each month will be the AHRF Hot Rod of the Month and will be featured on the AHRF website and on social networks.
At the end of each calendar year, the Advisory Board of the Foundation will select one car, as the AHRF Hot Rod of the Year, from that year’s Hot Rod of the Month winners. The Hot Rod of the Year will be given special publicity, and the car will be maintained in an ongoing catalog of AHRF Hot Rod of the Year winners.
