More about the car:

It’s been a long haul, dating back to 1961. I was 16 and building the Hot Rod of my dreams. The stock A coupe was obtained with the help of my Dad for a whole 75 bucks. He most certainly thought that I was young and out of my mind, not that he was wrong, but still supported my passion. Took the coupe all apart and was wondering if the A frame would suit my plans. By magic, a Deuce frame appeared for a whole $15.00…now, we’re talking. To channel the body required a bit of imagination, starting with cutting out the sub rails with a pair of vice grips, crazy, but it worked. A little of stretching the width of the body finally got it over the rails. Magic seemed to never end, the following week the guy who ripped me off for the frame sold me a complete ’32 grill & shell for another $15.00. Grandma was my financial supporter and it was only the beginning of my needs, need I say more. I then needed some of those flathead Ford parts, so the ’47 sedan arrived from the heavens where the engine, trans gears, rear end, brakes were put in play. But, times were evolving, and most of that stuff was replaced by a 283 with the help of an Honest Charlie adapter to mate the tranny. The rest is a long story of mods over time that most know how it goes. Interesting old items are the ‘Dago axle’, ‘Hub Capper’ wheels, Ansen scatter shield, ladder bar set up, engine details, etc. The photo within the rusty grill shell tells its history with looks and dates. 60+ years and still going strong. It’s been a long ride in time and over 100,000 + miles of driving, hopefully not ending soon.

About the AHRF Hot Rod of the Month Contest

The Hot Rod of the Month Contest is a special opportunity available only to Foundation Members. Active Members have a two-week period EACH MONTH in which to enter a car they own by providing photos and a description of their car. During the following two-week period, all Members, whether they have entered a car or not, can individually vote for their favorite car.

The car with the most Member votes at the end of each month will be the AHRF Hot Rod of the Month and will be featured on the AHRF website and on social networks.

At the end of each calendar year, the Advisory Board of the Foundation will select one car, as the AHRF Hot Rod of the Year, from that year’s Hot Rod of the Month winners. The Hot Rod of the Year will be given special publicity, and the car will be maintained in an ongoing catalog of AHRF Hot Rod of the Year winners.
