More about the car:

Built in 1946-47 by Big Bill Edwards of LA. The all aluminum body was built by Emil Deidt and Lugie Lusofsky (Indy car builders). Writings hint the body was designed by Alex Tremulis, the designer of the TUCKER. He and Emil Deidt worked together on the TUCKER.
Called the Weinberg Roadster as it was built for Bob Weinberg of California. Bob owned one of the BLUE CROWN SPECIAL Indy cars. These cars won Indy in 1947-’48 and ’49. The Roadster is fitted with a blown Ford flathead, 1942-48 version, using a GMC 4:71 supercharger, mounted behind the aluminum firewall and under the dashboard. Fed by 3 Winfield carbs.
The Weinberg Roadster ran El Mirage Dry Lakes in 1948, ran as a road race car at Elkhart Lake in 1950 and won a first place trophy at a 4 day Chicago Auto Show at Navy Pier in 1951. It disappeared until 1988 when Bill Schley of Wisconsin found it inside an Irish pub surrounded by pool tables.
The present owner traded it “even-steven” in 1989 for an Alfa Romeo 4R Zagato roadster. Restored by ReOriginals of Texas. Original negatives have been shared by Bob Ames and Ken Gross from Strother McMinn’s original “build photos 1946-47”. These photos allowed the restorer to bring the roadster back to its original power-train. Showed at Pebble Beach in 2019 and Amelia Island in 2023.

About the AHRF Hot Rod of the Month Contest

The Hot Rod of the Month Contest is a special opportunity available only to Foundation Members. Active Members have a two-week period EACH MONTH in which to enter a car they own by providing photos and a description of their car. During the following two-week period, all Members, whether they have entered a car or not, can individually vote for their favorite car.

The car with the most Member votes at the end of each month will be the AHRF Hot Rod of the Month and will be featured on the AHRF website and on social networks.

At the end of each calendar year, the Advisory Board of the Foundation will select one car, as the AHRF Hot Rod of the Year, from that year’s Hot Rod of the Month winners. The Hot Rod of the Year will be given special publicity, and the car will be maintained in an ongoing catalog of AHRF Hot Rod of the Year winners.
