Born in Los Angeles, California in 1900, Art Sparks was a legendary race car builder who started racing in the 1920s before working with Paul Weirick to become one of the most successful teams on the West Coast. Sparks would eventually join forces with multi-millionaire racing enthusiast and driver, Joel Thorne, and this partnership would go on to have great success at Indianapolis during the late 1930s and 1940s, ultimately winning the race in 1946. When the partnership dissolved in the 1950s, Art Sparks launched his company “Forged-True Pistons”. This would prove to be a hugely successful business and something that Sparks remained at the helm of until his passing.
