Rodcast Episode #20 // Tune in to our latest episode of The Rodcast for an interview with drag racing legend, Harry Hibler. From growing up in rural New Mexico on his family’s ranch, to his managing of the San Fernando Drag Strip, to running a successful construction business and his decades-long career at Petersen Publishing, Harry Hibler knows how to make things run successfully… including a dragster or two! We want to thank Harry for his time and generosity and for sharing his story with us.

Confusing, yes. Was harry looking for a new ride or just schmoozing? Stand by, the 484” Keith Black Hemi is about to make some noise? ©AHRF/Harry Hibler Collection

HHC_053_The Executive Harry After leaving the Track Manager position at San Fernando “The Pond” Dragstrip Harry became a Contractor. Next thing you know is Harry starts selling ad space at Petersen Publishing for Publisher Dick Day at Car Craft Magazine after meeting and doing some work on Dick’s house. Before you knew it he advances to Car Craft Publisher before moving on to be publisher of Hot Rod Magazine under Pete Petersen’s guidance. That’s why we see Harry many stories up in his “Corner Office” at the Petersen Building on the corner of La Cienega and Sunset Boulevard, the rewards of 29 years of work. ©AHRF/Harry Hibler Collection
